The molten polymer is injected into a mould to create the preform that, through blow moulding, will take on the appearance of the bottle that it is destined to be. Each preform is formed of a finish, that is the neck of the bottle, that is never modified at the blow moulding stage. The diameter and thread type of the finish are the characterising elements of the preform and determine the possibility of screwing it to any type of cap. The tubular structure that forms the neck of the bottle during blowing determines the weight of the final product. The diameter, length and shape of the body are the most important elements that give the blown container its final characteristics. The PET polymer does not have a colour of its own, but can take on different colour tones when correctly treated and mixed with coloured additives. The professionalism of Valgroup’s staff and the use of state-of-the-art moulding equipment enable our company to produce optimal preforms for any type of bottle, from half-litre “first price” bottles with light packaging to preforms for HO.RE.CA. Thanks to our close collaboration with plant and colour manufacturers, we can develop dedicated, tailor-made projects in a very short time and supply a quantity of preforms to allow clients to carry out a meaningful trial run before making any final decisions. The choice of top quality virgin and recycled material and rigorous monitoring of our laboratories are a significant guarantee of the functionality of our products. The label stuck on each octabin (packaging solutions to transport loose goods) contains all the information about the materials used, the production time and the quality control officer, and ensures complete traceability of the contents. A COMPLETE AND ORGANISED PRODUCTION PROCESS 01 STORAGE AND TRANSPORT OF RAW MATERIALS The polymer is transported in a tanker and, when it reaches the factory, it is taken to storage silos from where it can be collected in accordance with production needs. 02 TRANSPORT AND MIXING OF POLYMERS The material is sent to the mixing unit using a pneumatic system. It meets all the requirements and quality standards necessary for use in the food, detergents and personal care sectors. R-PET is the most innovative and requested solution for the manufacture of sustainable products which are completely comparable to traditional PET objects by way of advantages and technical characteristics, but which have a lower impact on the environment and on nature. Through the use of R-PET, it is possible to enjoy a product that would otherwise become refuse, a product at the end of its life cycle. We undertake and will undertake each day to always find more sustainable solutions in order to reduce the environmental impact of Valgroup’s activity as much as possible. To improve our company’s sustainability, we produce the energy that we use in our production flow. We use a trigenerator, thus called because it produces three important resources for Valgroup’s moulding and production plants: Electric energy: the electricity that powers the preform moulding machinery is produced by the combustion of natural gas. Heat: recovered from the combustion smoke from the gas, this is used to heat the diathermic oil and is fundamental to reduce consumption during the polymer drying stage. Cold: this is produced through an absorber which recovers it by converting unused residual heat. This resource is used to cool the moulds. If a preform is defective, it will inevitably cause problems during the bottle manufacturing stage and hold up the whole production chain. Supplying perfect preforms is thus one of Valgroup’s qualities. To facilitate the work of all our clients and ensure continual and linear flow in the manufacturing process of the finished product, we carry out quality checks on both the raw materials used and the finished PET preforms and we only offer excellent products. 01 VISUAL INSPECTION OF FLOW LINES WITH POLARISED LIGHT Inspection of correct PET preform moulding carried out by a skilled operator who verifies the absence of defects using polarised light. 02 SIZE AND WEIGHT CHECK Inspection to verify that the product presents all the technical specifications and parameters of the sample preform. 03 COLOUR CHECK Thanks to the use of a colorimeter, we check the colour conformity of the preform against the parameters of the sample preform. 04 ACETALDEHYDE CHECK Using special machinery, the acetaldehyde content inside the preform is checked. TIMELINE 1997 ESTABLISHMENT The company was established under the name of Asaplast after the purchase of Europa 92, a company in the sector with three production lines and a production capacity of approximately 240 million preforms per year. 1998-2008 PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT The company increased production year after year and extended the fleet of machinery to 9 presses. A 1,140 kW/h trigeneration unit was installed in 2003. 2009 COMPANY TRANSFORMATION Asaplast transferred its production lines to a new 25,000 square metre factory, of which 10,000 square metres were covered by a high level of automation. An automated LGV system for handling octabins was implemented. The old factory became a warehouse, and an automated island equipped with an anthropomorphic robot for packaging octabins for use in production was installed.   2011 NEW IDENTITY Asaplast become Nuovaplast. 2014 PRODUCTION GROWTH A tenth press was added to the company’s fleet of machinery and production reached a capacity of 1.3 billion preforms per year. 2016 NEW SYSTEMS An automated warehouse was set up with a storage capacity of 8500 pallet spaces. In addition, a new 2,000 kW/h trigeneration plant was started up and the eleventh press was acquired. 2017 WAREHOUSE EXTENSION A second 22-metre self-supporting automated warehouse increased the company’s storage capacity by an additional 16,500 pallet spaces. 2018 REFURBISHING The refurbishing of the fleet of machinery continued with two presses being replaced.
